Just a general update on what the
midwife said at my 25 week appointment.
All is well with baby and me. No high blood pressure or anything to worry about. She checked the baby’s heartbeat and as soon as she’d find it the baby would move. So she followed baby with the Doppler another two times before finally catching him/her long enough to hear it properly. The heart is nice and strong. I mentioned that the baby was extremely active (some days it feels like it never stops moving), and asked if it was normal. She said they have more active days than others. Finally she measured the bump, and she told me I was rather big for 25 weeks and according to the chart I was measuring ahead by two weeks. Nothing to worry about and can be quite normal for the growth to quicken at certain times during the pregnancy and in most cases evens out the further on you go. Obviously they measure again so we shall keep an eye on how it sizes up.
Baby size: Eggplant - 13.6-14.8 inches, 1.5-2.2 lb. Baby knows which way is up and which is down now
Sleep: Sleep is very much broken up now. I’ll just wake up for no reason and fall asleep again. Moving around is getting harder so every time I turn over I wake up.
Movement: New this week is baby’s hiccups! It’s a very strange feeling, like your tummy has a heartbeat or in a rhythm.
Food cravings/aversions: Loving coleslaw (has to be M&S),I could eat it with anything and everything. Still love sweets but I’ve taken more to fruit. Any fruit will do. It’s all good. I’m still off curries and spicy food, mainly due to heartburn.
Pregnancy symptoms: Hmmm nothing new really, the same old same old. Oh part from one which I love. For the first time in the history of my life (dramatic I know), rather than burning in the sun, I’m actually tanning nicely. Friends from school (good old sports day) will know that I always went bright red, like a lobster, and then pealed. With this holiday I’ve been tanning gradually and haven’t turned red!
What I miss: Not a lot at the moment.
What I'm looking forward to: Going on maternity leave in a few weeks time, getting too hard to commute when I’m exhausted from standing for long or even short periods of time.
Milestones: Nearing the end of the second trimester, one more trimester to go before baby time!
Best moment of this week/Pregnancy moments with hubby: Being on holiday. There was a particular moment when we went for a walk along the beach. We sat on a cliff, watching the sea and gazing and the amazing mountains facing us on the horizon. Seeing how beautiful and grand the world is made me feel so small. Yet we are together and have been given a new life, which is a miracle in itself, a miracle which is just a beautiful as the twinkling seas and lofty mountains. It made us feel so treasured and blessed.
Bump is now measuring at 43 inches :)
