Week 29

Baby size: Week 29: Butternut Squash (Hah, I was just cutting up a butternut for some soup!)

Sleep: Sleep is so-so. I need 27 hundred thousand cushions to keep me comfy. The baby seems to wake me every now and then with what feels like a rugby kick.

Movement: Of course, all the time. The baby is currently sitting breach, head is under my ribs. Bit tender when the baby kicks hard but otherwise fine. When they are at the strongest, my whole body jolts, which is really bizarre.

Food cravings/aversions: Chinese’s, pastas, cheese, chocolate and anything that crunchy and crispy, loving hummus and crunchy carrots.
Pregnancy symptoms: Nausea, normal aches and pains, and of course, heartburn. Hmmm, can’t really think of anything that I have gone off, the same as it has been throughout really, curries and anything that gives me heartburn!

What I miss: I miss not being as quick as I used to be, takes me awhile to do almost anything, especially getting up. Walking normally seems to have gone out the window, I tend to waddle more than walk now.

What I'm looking forward to: Seeing my friend Emma and letting her feel the baby kick and move. Also moving house, I am so over excited about it that I just want to squeal every time I think about it.

Milestones: 10 weeks to go until baby time! Start going into single digits now, eee!

Best moment of this week/Pregnancy moments with hubby: Laying with my husband at night and when the babies kicking I tend to place the bump in the arch of his back, so he can feel all the movements and kicks. It's amazing because Deryck will often fall asleep after a bit of time but sometimes when people fall they can have involuntary movement, like an arm or leg bumps or their body will jerk just slightly. Not enough to wake up though. However I've noticed when this happens as he jolts, the baby almost jolts just before he does, or with him at the same time. Most amazing feeling is holding your husband, carrying his baby, with the 3 of us so close together at peace; brings a tear to my eye every time it happens.

Week 27/28

Week 27 and 6 days (so pretty much week 28). I just wanted to get a blog in this week as we have had a big thing happen.

Baby size:
Week 27: Cauliflower - 13.6-14.8 inches, 1.5-2.2 lb (these measurements are the same average for week 27 and 28).
Week 28: Rutabaga - baby is breathing (it’s amniotic fluid, not air, but it still counts) and showing brain activity.

Sleep: Sleep is okay, tend to be wided eyed and bushy tailed no matter how much sleep I've had, even if it's just a few hours and I tend to run out of energy quicker than usual.

Movement: All the time... I know now how to distinguish between the babies hand or foot, and sometimes both feet! Baby likes to dance around I guess!

Food cravings/aversions: Really crave potato wedges or crisps  with dip, maccaroni cheese and starbucks decafe vanilla latte. Certain herbs make me feel sick, cinamon, onion powder and any food thats from a packet in powder form. I woke up early hours this morning really craving cream soda (the one I'm thinking of, you only get in South Africa).

Pregnancy symptoms: leg cramps and general all over cramps. Other than the sleep being different not much else.

What I miss: Not alot at the moment. Just enjoying it all while I still can!

What I'm looking forward to: It's my last day in work on friday, which will be bittersweet I think. The girls there keep me sane and I'll miss them alot. February next year seem like a long long way away for going back to work. On the other hand having the time off will help me sort out and ready our house, really get things prepared for our little family. Very excited to see it all come to fruition.

Milestones: Less than 12 weeks to go! I remember being only 12 weeks pregnant. Can not believe how fast it's gone. Soon I will have my baby in my arms and I can barely contain my excitement sometimes. Also, WE HAVE OUR HOUSE! This took place in a matter of hours from finding it, viewing it and deciding to take it.
Best moment of this week/Pregnancy moments with hubby: More about the house. 3 bedroom, newly furnished, baby room is ready and the price is less than what we where paying in Stafford. As soon as we left the we said it was an answer to prayer. We move in the last weekend in April, so less than 2 weeks to go. Very excited!

Week 26

Week 26 and 3 days.

Baby size: Lettuce: 13.6-14.8 inches, 1.5-2.2 lb.
Eyes start opening this week :)

Sleep: Sleep is tricky! We have invested in a pregnancy pillow which will arrive in a few days. Can NOT wait.

Movement: Yes, can feel how huge the baby is now, kicking my ribs and kicking really low too.

Food cravings/aversions: Cream egg McFlurry... SO good. I've had one a week for the last two weeks. Aversions... The smell of rotted milk or cream literally turns my stomach as doe's couscous.

Pregnancy symptoms: Braxton hicks came onto the scene yesterday for a good few hours. The pain was in my lower back and front and sort of like a contraction. They would come and go in no certain rhythm, but on average would vary between every 2mins/1min and 30 seconds, and would change all the time. They seemed to ease off yesterday evening. My tummy just felt very heavy and sore. I guess it’s all part of getting ready for giving birth. The other thing that’s happened this week (which I won't go into detail on) is that my milk as come in. Which I thought rather early but it's a good sign.

What I miss: Normal tea and coffee. I miss being able just eat whatever without worrying if it’s okay to eat i.e. pasteurised or if it’s been left around under hot lights.

What I'm looking forward to: I officially go on maternity leave on 16th April. 11 weeks before baby is due. With commuting and traveling it’s just too much to carry on doing. So my last week is next week! It will help that by this time we will be about ready to move house and means I can just focus on that and preparing for baby.

Milestones: One more trimester to go! Times going so quickly!

Best moment of this week/Pregnancy moments with hubby: In the last few weeks I feel like I’ve popped and the bump is very much noticeable. I kept calling myself a beached whale and was worried that being big would put Deryck off me. I got a stern talking to few days ago and he told me that carrying his child was the most beautiful thing that anyone has ever done for him and that it can’t get any better. I felt awful for saying such things to him. He’s the best :)
